What’s The Best Balance Trainer? – The Top 8 Options On Amazon

what's the best balance trainer

Balance trainers are some of the best pieces of equipment out there to enhance any workout you may be doing. However, as there are so many options out there, what’s the best balance trainer on the market? A lot of that may depend on what you are looking for, as each has various strengths and some subtle differences.

According to Livestrong.com, half ball balance trainers (specifically the BOSU in the article, but also applicable to all balance trainers), have many benefits including:

  • Being safer to use than a full balance ball as it won’t roll out from under you.
  • Being more space-efficient (My father-in-law has a full sized balance ball that my kids love to roll around his house, but it isn’t the easiest thing to store out of site).
  • Increase your balancing ability (This is especially important as you get older, since so many injuries happen because of a lack of balance).
  • Giving you a better workout because you are constantly using your core and stabilizing muscles to stay on balance. As you may or may not know, the more muscles you incorporate in an exercise, the more calories you burn and the more effective your workout.
  • Giving you a great place to assist stretching routines. Many half ball balance trainers also have either ridges or raised bumps that can also give a slight massaging aspect to your routines.
  • Changing up your workout routines. For example, squats on flat ground target certain muscles in your legs and glutes, making it easy for your brain to check out. However, doing squats on a half ball leads to a more focused exercise, engaging your targeted muscles, stabilizing muscles, and your brain as it tries to compensate for the lack of balance.

Now, Livestrong’s article highlighted the BOSU brand of stability half balls and they are the most well-known in the industry for good reason. All of their stuff is top-notch, however with the name comes a price.

BOSU is included on this list several times, however, here at Get Fit On A Budget, I am looking to connect you with products that not only fit into your budget, but also are of the highest quality.

Now, I have my top pick (which I will list right away in case you want to get right to it), but check out all the options before making a decision. Some of these might have features that more suit your style!

For those of you still unsure of what a balance trainer is and want to see one in action, check out this video:

One thing I will say is a few options come with resistance bands that you can clip in or out. However, they only come with one pair of light weight bands.

I would strongly consider getting yourself some more. I did a review of an awesome product a while back called Bodylastics. They are simply the best! CLICK HERE to read my full write-up!

That being said, let’s get to finding out my top 8 balance trainer options on Amazon!

Zelus Balance Ball

Zelus’s is another version that shares a lot in common with the URBNFit.

      • Amazon’s Choice product.

      • The weight limit doesn’t come close to the Pexmor or AtivaFit models.

Overall, the Zelus is most similar to the BOSU and URBN models, though the securing of the resistance bands seems a little sketchy. Feel free to click on the picture link to be taken to it’s Amazon page. Additionally, I tried to visit their website, but they seem to be having a lot of problems as many links don’t work.
